Graham Knuttel Exhibition Date: Tuesday the 26th of September 2006

Graham Knuttel and Gerry RyanTuesday 26th September 2006 saw the unveiling of renowned artist Graham Knuttel’s latest work which marks a departure form his oil paintings. The new medium of rugs is the latest medium in which he is presenting his work. Graham is no stranger to the world of weaving having recently worked with the French tapestry house Aubosson. RTE’s Gerry Ryan was on hand to open the exhibition.

Having recently worked with the world famous weaving house in Pinton in Aubusson on his tapestries, he has chosen to add another dimension to his work, by joining up forces with The Dixon Carpet Company (formerly V’Soske Joyce Ltd) who like Aubusson have worked with some of the most famous designers in the world, from Philip Stack to Ettore Sottsass, Patrick Scott, Patricia Jorgensen, Louis Le Brocquy and many more, who have not only commissioned works, but have developed new techniques and textures for this international world class product.

The new carpet designs fabulously depict the very essence of Knuttel’s new works with the colours bursting in multiplicity of possible stories, interpretations and views and are essentially  limited edition of his works of art for wall or floor.

From the Dorchester Hotel in London to The Rulers of Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Bahrain; Dixon carpets adorn over half of the worlds largest yachts, private Boeing 747s and American and Irish Embassies worldwide.

Graham is a prolific worker, spending up to 15 hours a day in his studio. His lifestyle could be considered eccentric and in recent years he has become reclusive and attaches great importance to his private life.

Graham is represented in many important private and public collections in Europe and the USA.  Amongst some of the people/companies to own Graham’s work are Robert De Niro, Sylvester Stallone, Frank Sinatra Eddie Jordan, Christy Moore, Colin Farrell, Michael Stipe, Bertie Ahern, Joanna Lumley, Swiss Bank Corporation ING Baring Bank London, Allied Irish Banks, Ireland/USA, Goldman SachsInternational and Saatchi & Saatchi London.
